Each time you write information to your CD (each session), extra space is required for directory and space allocation information (up to 24 MB of space, depending on the program). 10 - 1MB files copied one-at-a-time = approximately 150 MB on CD 10 - 1MB files copied as a group = approximately 34 MB on CD »NOT_RUIN_SEPARATE_CD« Use a separate CD with each CD-Writer program CD-writer programs use slightly different format schemes to optimize features. Use a separate CD with each of the programs that write to CD: For example, don't use the same CD with the Easy-CD Audio program and the Alchemy Build program. ¬Note: ¬Easy-CD and Easy-CD 95 can share discs. »NOT_RUIN_MULTIPLE_WRITES« Can I write to the same CD more than once? You can write to your CD multiple times, until it is full. But, like film in a camera, you cannot erase your recordable CD. ¬Note: ¬with Easy-CD Audio, only one GROUP of songs per CD is possible (one session). »NOT_RUIN_WIN31_TOO« Can I read my CD using Windows 3.1 as well as Windows 95? The trick is to use DOS compatible file names. Can I read my CD from Windows 3.1? • ¬Easy-CD Audio program ¬, yes, always uses DOS compatible file names • ¬Easy-CD program ¬, yes, always uses DOS compatible file names • ¬Easy-CD for Windows 95 program ¬, yes, if you use the default Joliet file naming structure • ¬Alchemy program ¬, yes, always uses DOS compatible file names »NOT_RUIN_OTHER_PROGRAMS« Don't run other programs while writing to the recordable disc Writing to CD is a resource intensive task. Interrupting the writing process in any way may corrupt your recordable disc. ¬Don't use any other programs during the write process. ¬ Recommendations to prevent recordable disc corruption: • Log off of the network • Sign off from EMAIL • Turn off your screen savers • Turn off any programs that may interrupt, such as your calendar reminding you of a meeting or your scheduled backup beginning. »NOT_RUIN_LABEL« Label your HP CD without damaging it The vulnerable area on your CD is the top surface (where the label is). ¬Do ¬ • Use permanent markers to write on your HP CDs. ¬Don'ts ¬ • Ball-point pens scratch the gold recording surface. • Tape or sticker adhesive may cause damage. Removing tape or stickers can tear off the gold recording surface. »WHAT_DO« Click on any picture to learn more about using recordable CDs »WHAT_DO_MUSIC« Create Music CD's Make a CD of your favorite music by copying tracks from your music CDs to your recordable CD.
